What is Healing Touch for Animals® (HTA)?

Animals experience life like we do. They know how to love, how to please and share joy. They can feel heartbreak and sadly, some experience real trauma. Healing Touch for Animals® (HTA) is a safe, gentle, and natural approach to animal health and wellness through each stage of life.

Healing Touch for Animals® techniques support the animal's energetic body so the physical body and mental strength can maintain the health and wellness they deserve. Healing Touch for Animals® teaches students how to assess an animal's energy system followed by specific techniques (using touch, near-touch, aromatherapy and/or sound therapy) to clear balance and strengthen the energy system.

HTA can be used on all species: small and large animals, birds, aquatics and exotics. Anyone who has the desire to assist an animal or human can easily learn HTA. The HTA techniques can also be integrated into a human energy therapy practice.

How Does Healing Touch for Animals® Work?

Understanding how the body responds to energy therapy explains how healing occurs with Healing Touch for Animals®. Following the cycle in a clockwise direction, beginning with “Relaxes Body” and ending with “Regulates Immune System”, this chart illustrates a full perspective of the body’s natural response to energy therapy.

Energy therapy sessions initiates a relaxation response.

The relaxation response releases endorphins in the brain.

The endorphins relax the muscles.

Relaxed muscles create more space between cells providing increased circulation.

The increased blood flow elevates oxygen levels throughout the body.

Accelerated blood flow allows nutrients to be absorbed more efficiently.

Enzymes build for proper digestion.

Hormones regulate to strengthen the body’s constitution.

Toxins release from the body.

Healthy cells begin to regenerate.

A sense of well-being is established which promotes healing.

When the body has a stable physiology, the immune system is regulated. The resulting stability within the immune system affects the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual facets of the body’s energy field supporting self-healing.

The History of Healing Touch for Animals®

Rose Kennedy once said, “Life isn’t a matter of milestones, but of moments.

It’s true, and in the spring of 1996, Healing Touch for Animals® (HTA) began a global effort to bring those life-changing moments and milestones to our animals and their people.

First Healing Touch for Animals Class in 1996Each moment is itself a milestone – a milestone for people like shelter volunteer Pat Barton of Raleigh, North Carolina, who brought Darkness, a big, black, 2-year-old lab mix riddled with anxiety, out of the back of his cage through the use of energy therapy and into a new forever home – and in the process convinced skeptics of the power of energy therapy.

A milestone for Denver, Colorado resident Susan Williamson, whose experience with HTA helped her horse, Charlie, heal when traditional veterinary medicine alone could not.

A milestone for Lisa Osthelder of Phoenix, Arizona, whose profound experience with unconditional love during an HTA class changed the course of her career. She left the corporate world to become an HTA Practitioner and has dedicated her life to promoting healing animals through energy therapy.

For over 25 years, Healing Touch for Animals® Founder Carol Komitor has helped almost 15,000 people around the globe be proactive in promoting the healing of their animals naturally.

From the first class that was offered in the Hill Country of Texas in 1996, HTA has grown into a comprehensive curriculum that includes six levels – Level 1 through Advanced Proficiency 2. Courses are taught all over the globe and are open to all people who want to improve the lives of their animals, and in turn their own.

As we look back at the lives that have been healed and changed through energy therapy, we are also looking forward to the numerous lives who will be enriched through our work.

We invite you to read about more life-changing moments and milestones throughout our blog, and learn more about the HTA curriculum here.

Our Mission

Healing Touch for Animals® provides training on how to assist animals with their health and well-being, their behavioral issues, their physical, mental and emotional healing, and the enhancement of the animal/human bond through energetic connections and the application of energy therapy techniques.

Veterinary Professionals

Healing Touch for Animals® techniques can be integrated into both holistic and traditional veterinary practices. HTA is a service that can be easily applied by veterinarians, technicians and/or HTA Practitioners. Healing Touch for Animals® courses introduce HTA techniques to course participants and demonstrate how HTA and energy medicine can be easily used in a veterinary practice.

The techniques shared in the courses are designed to enhance the self-healing process and do not replace traditional medical or veterinary health care, medical diagnosis, or medical treatment for illness. The teaching promotes a cooperative model that bridges holistic animal health care with traditional veterinary medicine. Refer to a licensed medical or veterinary practitioner for medical care.

The HTA techniques were developed by Carol Komitor under Komitor Method of Healing, Inc. The concepts and techniques come from Carol's experiential understanding of energy developed through working with clientele, both people and animals, her studies, and her use of other energetic modalities.

Healing Touch for Animals® (HTA) is privately owned and is not governed by any other organization. Healing Touch for Animals® endorses the Healing Touch Program™ curriculum and the healing work that is facilitated for our human population.
